Greek Islands in late August . . . we never dreamt they would be so peaceful.

At Indigo Bay we like to experience at first hand the destinations that we suggest to our clients.  So in August last year we took ourselves off to Greece – firstly to the Islands of Paxos, Anti Paxos, Ithaka and Kefalonia in the Ionian and then, by way of the extraordinary Corinth Canal. on to the Peloponnese where we dropped anchor in Speteses, Hydra and off the breathtaking beach of Elafanisos ,which somehow remains a secret utopia known seemingly to the Greeks alone, and where we swam with monk seals and a magnificent giant turtle.

Everything about our week was exquisite . . . from the charming waterside restaurants to the stunning blue waters  through which one could invariably see the seabed many metres below.   We visited a Venetian fortress in Assos, went for a four hour hike on Hydra – seeing only one other human the entire time, and spent hours snorkelling in deserted crystal clear bays.

With all that has been written about these Islands, never mind the Hollywood blockbusters that have recently been filmed in the area, it is an absolute wonder that we managed to find so many quiet, deserted bays, beaches and rocky outfalls that we climbed each night for our sundowners.
